OSCE Course Tutor

Requirements:

  • Available for upcoming course dates to complete training & assessment (February, April/May 2021)

  • At least 6 months post qualifying experience

Matrix Education was founded in November 2018 with the establishment of the first PA mobile/ desktop application followed by the first appraisal toolkit. Our OSCE course was sold out in 2020, as a result of our high pass rate for the nationals. With over 2500 physician associates using our services, we are the leading provider in educational resources for physician associates in the UK, created by a team of qualified PAs.

Unfortunately, as PA programmes are not standardised across the country, this puts some PA students at risk of potentially not being taught key elements required for their PA national examinations. Our OSCE courses were developed to combat this, to help all attendees facilitate their preparation and revision for their PANE correctly and to ensure there are no gaps in their learning. Our first OSCE course commenced in January 2019, and since then the course has grown and developed a track record for excellence, having assisted over 150 PA students pass both their university and national OSCE examinations, safely.

We wish to appoint 2 physician associates as OSCE course tutors in order to be part of our OSCE Course team. One in based in Birmingham and one in London. The successful applicants will be qualified physician associates, with atleast 6 months post-qualifying experience. General medical specialities are desired, such as general practice, acute medicine or accident and emergency. If you don’t work in any of these, but you are still keen to get involved then please still do apply.  You should have a good understanding of the nature of physician associate programmes including knowledge and experience of the national OSCE certifying examinations. If you have always had an interest in teaching, but don’t necessarily want to lecture at university, this role is perfect for you. (Or you can do it in additional to your lecturer job if that’s something you already do)

Core duties will include delivery of teaching of the course for a minimum of  1 out of 2 days per OSCE course weekend. Presentations and course materials will be prepared for your PA students before hand and given to you and your OSCE course Lead, by our admin team - so you can focus on what you enjoy - teaching. The post-holder will appoint to the OSCE course lead who will also be a qualified PA, and be there to help you out on the day if needed.  You will also be required to work with our associate clinical educators should you teach on Day 1 of the course or with our OSCE examiners on day 2.

Candidates will be expected to undergo paid training, which will involve you shadowing an upcoming OSCE course, and then delivering an OSCE course whilst being assessed in order to maintain the high standard of our courses. Upon successful completion of this you will be offered a permanent position as an OSCE course tutor at Matrix.

To avoid any conflicts of interest, the candidates must not currently be working with any other external PA resource/course providers and sign an NDA upon successful invitation for an interview.

Deadline to apply is now closed.
