Karl will help you become more confident when dealing with renal patients – helping to prepare you for exams and starting a career as a Physician Associate. He will go over U&E interpretation/Electrolyte imbalance’s. He will also talk about treatment, causes and investigations of AKI (Pre, intra, and Post renal), as well as discuss fluid status, when to make a nephrology referral and introduce you to dialysis.

Karl Qualified as a physician associate in 2018 from the University of Manchester. An anaesthetic operating department practitioner by background and currently works as a physician associate in nephrology in Northern Ireland. In addition Karl examines at the physician associate national OSCEs and writes questions for the SBA. He is currently a post-grad Medical Education student.

Talha will be covering common endocrine disorders presenting in primary care , how to investigate , diagnose and manage such patients. This will be based around common questions asked in the national SBA and OSCE exams.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Talha is a qualified Physician Associate who graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2019 and has an undergraduate degree in Biomedical sciences. Since graduation Talha has worked in Uro-Oncology , urgent care and is now working in primary care managing acute and long term conditions. Talha also completes medication reviews and does care home visits as part of his role. Talha has an Interest in medical education, anatomy and neurology

Stelina is a qualified physician Associate. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical science in 2019 and went on to complete a Masters in Physician Associate Studies. She is now working in a General Practice in West Hampstead, London. She has a particular interest in teaching MSK, Gastroenterology and Anatomy. Outside of work she plays the piano, does Karate and loves to travel.

Shayan will cover everything to do with neurology, focusing more on history taking for OSCEs aswell as key tips and pointers not to miss in your Neuro exam OSCEs.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Shayan is a registered Physician Associate who qualified from Barts Medical School in 2019. Since then, he has been working in a busy tertiary centre at King’s College Hospital in the Neurology Department. Prior to this, he completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and obtained a Masters in Neuroscience from King’s College London. In addition to his ward duties, he is currently the lead for a number of outpatient procedures, including Lumbar Puncture, Skin and Muscle biopsies. He has a special interest in Medical Education and has been appointed as an Academic Clinical Tutor for 3rd-year MBBS students since January 2020 and delivers regular bedside teaching. He has also been an OSCE examiner and tutor for QMUL PA students and delivers regular teaching on Neurological Conditions based on the PA Matrix. Outside of work he loves to travel and enjoys photography.

Alicia will be covering headaches from 1A and 1B in the matrix of core clinical conditions. She will cover: risk factors, causes, presentations, red flags, investigations and management, and will provide example SBA questions of how these topics may come up in a knowledge-based SBA exam. She will also discuss tips for how to prepare for headache-themed OSCE stations.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Alicia qualified as a Physician Associate in the Autumn of 2020 from Brighton and Sussex Medical School. She has now been working as part of the Stroke Team at Bedford Hospital for 10 months, after working for 6 months in acute medicine. She works in the management of stroke patients day-to-day, as well as seeing and treating general medical patients. She loves the variety of the job, the constant learning opportunities, the ability to follow a patient’s journey, and working with a great team. Outside of work she likes to dance, read, and is currently converting a camper van!

Samira will be covering a case presentation covering abdominal pain history taking with the key things to remember when tackling an OSCE, aswell as the important aspects of the abdominal examination. She will also go through blood test interpretation with some SBAs at the end of the webinar.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Samira qualified as a PA in 2018 from Hull York Medical School. Since then she has worked in various general adult specialties. For the last 18 months she has been working in Paediatric surgery and paediatric colorectal surgery. Her role is varied – ranging from clinics, ward cover and surgery. In the future she hopes to develop her role in teaching PAs and PA students. Outside of work she is a keen boulderer and saxophonist!

Pablo will be covering the basics of ECG interpretation, the most common ECGs you can expect to see in and how to present them to examiners
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Pablo is an Anaesthetic trainee in the East of England. Before, he qualified as a doctor in 2018 in Spain and then became an ITU registrar with a masters degree in ITU. In addition, he also helps other foreign doctors to apply for jobs in the UK. On his free time, he likes to travel, play with his cat and as any good anaesthetist, sleep!

Dorsa will be covering common respiratory presentations, and case studies to make you think about how to investigate, diagnose and manage such patients. This will be based on the PA matrix focusing on common presentation in a primary setting. Dorsa is a qualified physician Associate who graduated in 2021 from the University of Hertfordshire and has an undergraduate degree in biomedical science.
Alicia will be covering chest and abdominal x-ray interpretation.
She will discuss indications, interpretation of normal films, acronyms to help you remember, possible abnormalities, as well as providing example SBA questions and a practice OSCE scenario.

About the Speaker
Lauren is a Physician Associate working in acute medicine and North Bristol Trust. She has been qualified for almost 4 years and has a passion for acute medicine. She studied to become a PA at the University of Reading and prior to this did a degree in Medical Physiology. Throughout her career as a PA, she has been involved in clinical trials research by being an Associate Principal Investigator for one of the main covid-19 trials and has published articles in journals in relation to this. She has rotated through a variety of medical specialities picking up key generalist knowledge. She. has been involved in bedside and classroom student teaching as well as examining at a local university.

She will cover: risk factors, causes, presentations, investigations and management, and will provide example SBA questions of how these topics may be presented in a knowledge-based SBA exam. She will then run through some OSCE based-neurological scenarios i.e. a patient with a cranial nerve deficit, and discuss how these stations may come up in your OSCEs.
